For this project, I chose to design the house for a music composer specializing in film soundtracks. He is mainly interested in noise and ambient music and I drew them as inspiration for multiple textural layers throughout the space. Comfortable, but sophisticated and airy was the atmosphere I intended. I chose materials based on their alternating visual noise and acoustic qualities. A great amount of natural lighting is projected through the entire house, due to the void and the full length glass wall beside the stairs. Since my client doesn’t play any instruments, he chooses to use his surroundings as inspiration for his tunes. The whole house is designed to create alternating ambient and more soundful spaces, using constructed elements that respond to factors in the surrounding environment. Therefore, allowing it to be a lively interchanging space that interacts with the surroundings.
